This is a September picture I made in the early morning light along the banks of the Wisconsin River.
Haven't been able to be on here very much right now. My studio / gallery Fall Art Tour starts this coming Friday and been quite busy getting things ready for that. Thanks all! Nick

Lovely subject matter and composition Nick.  Great light.  The large version really sings.  I would like to see more shadow detail/less contrast on the bark of the trees I think, but this really speaks to me. Well done.

Hi Bill, Thanks much for your thoughts on this, and I'm glad the image works for you. I like it quite a bit too.
I did consider having more shadow detail on the tree trunks but the more I thought about it I thought the darker shadows were an important part to the look and feel of the image. It seems to have much of the feel of being there that morning for me as it is here.
I appreciate getting your thoughts on it and might try it with less contrast and more shadow detail just to see how it looks. Nick

This has such a wonderful warmth to it Nick. Lots of light reflected off of the water. I can understand why you chose to keep the shadows shadows. Very inviting.

A beautifully warm and inviting view here, Nick.  Does an outstanding job of making me wish that I was there enjoying the start of a wonderful fall day.

Photography during Sept can be challenging because the colors are more subtle, but can be rewarding as well because of the softer light. This image takes full advantage of the light providng the color. Well done, Nick.

A very pleasant scene for me, Nick, and an appealing and inviting composition.

Maybe opening the shadows a little bit just to give some hints at details could be an option. Although the dark parts in your image make for a strong structure to my eye.

This hits you with its sense of calm and serenity, Nick.  A real sense of place and time comes through; the way the cool tones of the sky and the water with its reflection contrast with the warmer colours on the river bank and the trunks of the trees is delightful.

This has some nice warm evening light and colors. It reminds me very much of a pond in central California where I fished for bass and bluegills. The trees around the shore would light up like this before sunset. Nice image.
