One of the 2 dominant male Lions from the "Cheli Pride" follows one of the females in early morning golden light in the Mara North Conservancy just a couple hundred meters from our camp.

The colors in the distance and sky are quite amazing, Mario.  At the same time, the lions stands out well, quite the view.

Mario, indeed a nice morning photo.  As I study it, my eye seems to be drawn away from the lion by the sky.  If this were mine, I think I would crop it just above the background trees.  Then my eye stays with the lion.  Just a personal opinion.

Great rendering of the lion.  The soft, slight rim lighting on him are especially appealing.  I also like his angle to the lens and open mouthed pose.    I agree the intense colored sky, even if totally as seen, if competitive to the main subject.  One could experiment with either alternate crops or some de-saturating.  Special note, however, is that these kinds of observations are totally subjective and assuredly many people would love the bright colors.

I guess I have a different opinion than most here.  To me without the beautiful background colors it would be just another lion shot.  Beautifully captured Mario. devil

I do think you overdid the lightening of the face here, as the light is clearly from behind? :)
