One morning in Meru a herd of elephant came very close to us just before sunrise. The sky was showing all shades of beautiful colours...

Interesting and unusual image!
The elephant's skin detail in the large image is excellent.

I like the image as well and agree with Sandy on the sharpness of the skin. love it.

I think cropping top and bottom so there is no sky and the lower right corner grass is gone makes it more interesting and unusual, but that is just my quirky way of seeing things. O/W, excellent. Actually, excellent without my suggestion.

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions!
Jim, I don't really want to crop this image because then I lose some colours in the BG which are important to me for the general atmosphere in the photo. For the same reason, Nate, I didn't make the elephant lighter, to me there is enough detail in the darkness and it makes the image more mysterious... or that's the way I see it at least 😀
Thanks again!

I think the darker, richer colors lend a different feeling to what we are used to seeing in normal bright
African scenes.  Interesting choice.
