Praying Mantis II & RP

Here's a bit more conventional rendition of the mantis.  The plant is a bloomed out Anise Hyssop.  The bg is the result of fairly dense fog between the subject and the row of Douglas fir trees a few hundred feet behind it.

5DIII, 180mm f/3.5 L macro, tripod & cable release, f/22, 1/5, iso 640 aperture priority, pattern metering, + 2/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to 15.9 MP 4x5 from a vertical original.  Taken at 6:32 AM yesterday morning with just a bit of sun filtering through the fog.

Comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks,

As soon as I posted this the one oof bloom head sticking above the others in the lower right started bugging me.  Here's a version without it.  Click on the image for the 1200 pixel version.

Again, excellent details in the Mantis.  In this case, she color matches nicely with her perch.  The soft light sure lets the details show well.  The oof bits, lower right, don't bother me in the slightest as they are quite subtle.

Dennis, beautiful details and colors. I don’t mind the OOF bloom head in the background. Like this species. Well done!

Hi Dennis,

I like the repost much better.  For some reason the colors appear brighter and warmer as well which worked out very well for your repost.  She is a cute mantis toocrying.....................................Jim

Really nice detail in the Mantis, Dennis. Nice subdued tones in this image and the composition really works well.
