Norris Geyser Basin Reflection

Norris Geyser Basin, Yellowstone NP.  My goal was to take non-iconic photos of this famous National Park.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks all for your comments on my previous posts.

BTW - A very beautiful but dangerous place.  A guy died in tis area when he slipped into a hot spring a few months ago when he ventured off the boardwalk.

This certainly proves that looks can be deceiving.  Such a benign looking place can be deadly.   Nice take from here, Eva.  I might be tempted to crop a bit of the reflection off the top to eliminate the brighter parts.

Eva, Really interesting! Lots of shapes, textures and colors to look at and it does a nice job of keeping my eye moving around to see everything. I agree with Gary that just a tiny crop of the reflection at the top would work nicely. Just the brightest area right on the edge and not all the reflection would do it. Don't want to get to close to the rock/sand edge just below it.

Definitely non-iconic. However this could easily be limited to only places with Hot Springs based on the geology that I see in the image. So that limits it. But I think you did a really good job of composition. I find it to be a very interesting picture with good color, good texture and a pleasing abstract form.

Ahh, the porcelain basin at Norris, one of my favorite places in Yellowstone.  I'm always attracted to the variety of colors in the pools, but have found it hard to make compelling images.  This is a fine look, that shows off the colors and shapes well.

The guy who died was over 200 yards off the boardwalk in the Back basin area of Norris.  We'll never know what was going on, because his sister, who was with him, surely hasn't and probably isn't going to tell the whole story of what they were up to.
