This summer I have been wanting to do more macro shots. So I am open to any suggestions you can give me to improve my presentations.

Nice one here May. I find myself wanting a bit more space with this one, perhaps off centering a bit more to the right and bottom to give it some more room on top.

May, this is a fine look at this lovely fritillary. It's colors stand out well against the green background. In the larger view, I see that the wing tips are going just a bit soft. One of the major challenges in macro work is the trade off between subject sharpness and background softness. I think you chose well here. Yes, you could probably have gotten the wing tips sharp by going to f/20 but that would add more structure to the background, to the point that it might start to be a distraction. I agree with Ed, that (assuming you've got space) pulling the bf down a bit in the frame would be a nice improvement.

Hi May,
Top view of small butterflies are tough to nail in total sharpness. The wings never lie perfectly flat so pick the smallest aperture and fire away. I like that the body and antennae are tack sharp. The hind edges and tips of the wings are slightly out of focus. A little more room up at the upper left will help strengthen the composition. Otherwise a nice looking little little fritillary.................Jim
