Local Woodland

About 20 minutes walk from my home lies this area of wet woodland. by the banks of the river Mersey.  Sweetflag enlivens the muddy pools surrounded by crack willows, and many other plants have taken root; fallen trees and cracked branches feature everywhere.  The woodland is now protected, as a rare habitat for frogs and toads and a variety of insect and bird life, within a vast urban complex.

Ian, this looks like a great to explore quietly.  The variety of yellows and greens is very inviting.  It's easy to imagine going over and sitting on that sloping tree while I listen to the sounds surrounding me.

A beautiful woodland setting, Ian, with very sweet light.  I like the angle you got that makes it seem we're looking into it through a window-very effective.

A very peaceful scene with nice lighting and lots to look at, Ian!  The composition is nicely balanced which I know can be difficult in such a complicated scene.  The large version is especially nice as it puts you right there and you can see all the interesting details of the scene.  Very nice and a great choice for the challenge!

A study in green. It's a "busy" photo but not in the chaotic sense -- can one say "controlled busyness"?  That's as it should be. Makes me want to be there.
