Sneffel's Window

Last fall in the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, low clouds obscured the peaks at sunrise.  As they moved about, various glimpses of the Sneffels range could be seen.  At one moment, a hole positioned itself to allow the main peak to appear.  What could have been a bust that morning resulted in my favorite fall image.

Yes, Doug, Mt. Sneffels peeking through the clouds is quite the sight.  The white clouds and snowy peak make for quite a contrast with the golden fall colors in the land.  Easy to see why this is a favorite.

This sure fits the topic-clouds obscuring a part of the image that o/w would have been clear and beautiful, but nevertheless resulting in an exceptional image.

Nice cloud frame with secondary Aspen support.  A Colorado dream come true.  Very well done.

You captured some glorious autumn color and the clouds parted just enough at the right time to create a stunning scene, Doug. Beautifully done.

Beautiful, Doug.  I can see why it's a favorite.  The clouds do a wonderful job of isolating and emphasizing the peak.

Great shot Doug, so nice when everything lines up, especially unexpectedly!

A gorgeous Fall scene, Doug!  Nicely composed and an excellent exposure.  The large version really makes a difference, with much more presence.
