Desert Survivors

As a flat lander from the Deep South and bayou country, always surrounded by lush plant life, it's interesting to see survival skills in the dry environment of the Colorado Plateau.  This is from 2011 in Devils Garden (Escalante).  Many of the paths leading to interesting formations are marked up by foot traffic, so I decided to find this more remote section off the beaten path.

No trees, either. An interesting vignette of plant survival in an arid habitat. Of the composition, I like the detail of the sand and the corner to corner path implied by the scattered vegetation.

I like the contrast between the plants and the sand. The different colors and textures work very well together.

Nice and simple composition, Bill, with lovely deep red ground and plenty of textural incident to give a feel of the location.
