I was just sitting by the pond waiting for whatever came by and couldn't resist taking a shot of this shoveler.  For me, they are gorgeous birds.  Early morning light same day and time as the male Green-winged Teal I posted recently.  Large size provided for more detail.

Nikon D810
300 2.8
1.4 tc
f 5.6
ISO 500
1/400

Thanks for looking and critiques always appreciated.

Beautiful colors reflected on the pond and wonderfully composed image of this beautiful Drake. Lovely May.

That eye sure pops, Maya, and the colors both in the bird, it's reflection, and the water behind it are gorgeous.  The spreading ripples are a great addition.

Beautiful, May!  I like everything about this--especially the colors, water ripples, and that great eye!  I love the lines of a Shoveler's head and the look it gives the bird--especially in flight.  A really nice image!

What a beautiful setting for this handsome shoveler to pose for you in May. Those ripples put this one over the top for me. I really like your low perspective. Excellent Exposure Work Too!

Sweet image, May.  Gorgeous light on the water and I love the textures, excellent detail in the Shoveler as well.  I really like what the water motion did to the reflection in this image-very artistic.

Ecellent, May. I can't add anyting to what's been said, but this is a well-executed, classic shot of a handsome drake.

Nice job on this shoveler Drake. The eye just pops.  I always find these birds difficult to photograph because they are always in motion and they have their heads underwater feeding.
