Exquisitely sombre tones, Ed - and beautifully composed in distinct layers. It has a melancholy feel.

Beautiful early summer image, Ed. The details in the large view really show off this subtleties of the composition. My only suggestion would be to clone or burn the light stick bottom left middle, no a big at all. Very nice.

Nicely captured, Ed. Well composed for the backlight and sunstar.

Sweet backlit scene, Ed. Love the hazy background. I would second Gary's suggestion about the bright stick coming up from the bottom and clone it out.

Ed, your image conveys the atmosphere of this scene nicely to me. The sunstar appears very natural to my eye and does not distract my attention from exploring the whole composition.
Cloning out the white stick at the bottom might help, but this is inly a minor matter to me.

Indeed a very nice and peaceful photo! I am slightly distracte dby the bright branch at the bottom, maybe some burning would help? Minor nit though, I really like the tones in the leaves, it creates a special atmosphere. I think Ian was pretty spot on with describing it as melancholic.

Very nice, Ed. I'm really liking the darker rendering which gives a totally different mood to the image. Other than cloning out that stick at the bottom which was already mentioned, you might consider increasing the contrast in the sky to coax out those wispy clouds a bit further.

Love the composition and overall scene. However looks like I'll be the one who finds it too dark as presented. I'm finding the backlight too dulled to be effective, think the brighter tones should go even lighter.

Thanks for the input folks, much appreciated. Here is a repost with the stick cloned out, a bit more contrast in the sky and the FG highlights brightened a bit.
