Grey-necked wood rail
by S Govindarajan
I had the opportunity to spend a week in Belize last month on a birding vacation/photo trip with my wife. One of the highlights was seeing this colorful wood rail on an early morning boat trip around a lake. This was one of a pair that was trotting along the lake shore looking for food. Needless to say, I was thrilled seeing it in the open in great light. The only difficulty was keeping them in focus standing on a rocking boat.
