Light's End + repost

While waiting for sunset, searching the points and ridges within the Grand Canyon for the last of the sunlight hitting the features is enjoyable to me.  The canyon seems to offer something new with each visit.  Feel free to offer any suggestions and nits.

Wonderful composition, beautiful light, great tonality. You've really taken advantage of the light's bringing out the structure.

The light here is really special and you did a fine job realizing its quality. The tonal range is excellent, as are the lines and textures. Well done, Doug.

Wonderful B&W conversion.  I really like this Doug.  The light accentuates the canyon details nicely.  I also like this more intimate view of the canyon.

I really  like the lines and tones in this, Doug.  So many images of the Grand Canyon emphasize color and use a wide angle lens. The black and white treatment, nearly square crop, and long focal length combine for a wonderfully refreshing interpretation.

Beautifully captured.  I echo the other comments on comp, tonality, textures. One of the finest, you have  brought us  to the edge for a wonderful look at a marvel.

Beautiful b/w Doug.  From the land of light and shadow you have found another sweet comp. The only thing I can think to offer as a suggestion, and this would be purely personal taste, is I would like to see the shadow behind the ridge just a shade darker.  To me it's a fine line on opening them up too much or not enough.  Nice work as always.

Excellent! Concise and to the point. I would be interest to see how this looked with just a bit more space above the top and below the bottom. It doesn't look crowded but that sometimes improves my images of this type.

This is a great, moody view Doug, going b&w fits perfectly.  The highlight on the point shows it off well along with the erosion shapes below.  The steep ridge in the background makes a fine shape contrast.

Real nice dramatic presentation of a fine scene. I might be tempted to burn down the highlights on the back left canyon walls. I find it competes for my attention with the main formation. Excellent work.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.  I did a quick selection of the back wall and then a levels adjustment to reduce the highlights.  It does put more focus on the front point.
Igor, I checked the original file and did not have anymore up top or below as this was from a horizontal frame.  In looking at other images of this point from past shootings, it appears that immediately above and below are more cliff faces.

This is simply fantastic, Doug.  The light on these formations is superb and the design of your composition has incredible movement, almost an S curve in rock.  Your repost placing more emphasis on the light in the foreground is stunning.  Excellent use of black and white.  Will make a captivating print without a doubt.

Yes, the repost is a definite improvement. The top ridge now plays a background role and the point of the hill is more emphatic. Harley's suggestion was good.

Very classy BW! I have a slight preference for the original version actually. The light hitting the back wall just feels more natural to me in that first one.

Nice detail in the large version, it really shows the immense scale of this scene. The vignetting looks very natural and is very fitting too. Repost is an improvement, this really is a beautiful b+w!

Outstanding image! The spot lighting is sublime and really helps simplify and strengthen the composition. The tonality that you have achieved through the B&W conversion works beautifully. Great work!
