Flying low over a rice field in the Northern Sacramento Valley near Durham, California.  These migrants are not pure white, but take on darker shades due to local diet.  D800e, Sigma 150-600 S @ 600, F8, 1/2000, ISO 1000, HH.

Very nice landing pose here Jim, I'm seeing a halo around much of the bird, particularly around the neck and the belly.  Did you selectively sharpen the bird or sharpen the whole image?  It's always better to just sharpen the bird to help avoid the halos.  devil

Nice catch, Jim.  I'm surprised to see one still around-I thought they all headed north by now.  I'm puzzled by what might have caused the bright blue fringe around most of the bird and the blue tone to the backlit feathers.  I wouldn't think the sky color would come through that strongly.

Good position and sharpness for aflight shot.

Something has gone terribly wrong with the tones, though. This looks almost like HDR. Did you apply a lot of Shadow/Highlight recovery?

Thanks everyone for pointing out the (now) obvious processing problems with this one.  I just don't seem to see blue very well.  The original doesn't look like this.  I will make another try at this one.
