Fading Spring Dreams

i have always been interested in the passing of the seasons, and the first flush of blossom on the bushes heralds, here in Germany, finally, the end of winter.  I had the chance (at last) to get out out the weekend with the aim of trying for the first time to work with this tree blossom (not sure of species ... similar to Hawthorn - but no thorns). The first flush of spring passes and fades all too quickly and this I somehow also wanted to capture ...

Sigma SD1 Merrill, Meyer Görlitz Orestor 135mm, 1/125 sec. / f4 / ISO 100 ...

A larger image can be viewed HERE.

Comments as ever very welcome ...

Cheers, Mark

I think the concept is brilliant. I like the blue toning and the composition. My one nit is the rough, blurred halo edges of the topmost petals and some of the anthers. Perhaps a soft blur brush might take care of it?

Hi Phil, thanks, glad you like the concept :-) though 'no can do' wrt to the halos they are also very much part of the concept - hence the antique lens ;-) ... The edges and fade into oof would have looked very different if I had used my Sigma  180mm Macro ... :-)

I like this image a lot, Mark.
I like the results obtained with this very popular vintage lens.

This is lovely and the oof parts don't bother me. It's part of the overall painterly quality of the image for me. The blue tones are interesting to depict the first blush of spring. I would tend to pick a warmer color, but this works very well here.

Hi  Mark  crying   I like  your artistic interpretation  of  this spring bloom.      the blue tones work well with the halos of the antique lens

Interesting effects and mood to this Mark. I like the coloration and the faded effects.

I like the artistic effect you created with the antique lens and I like the blue coloration. Nicely done!

Mark: Really interesting take on this and a fine result. This almost looks like a Lensbaby effort but with conventional optics. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

Really lovely presentation, Mark.   I like the color, contrast, and off-center comp a lot.  Everything works well together here.
