After hiking a mile or so along Jordan Pond Stream trail my brother and I came across this idyllic scene of this carriage bridge crossing the stream.

The park itself has 45 miles of carriage roads which are some of the finest example of broken stone roads in the US. In addition to the roads John D. Rockefeller and family were responsible for the erection of 16 stone faced carriage bridges throughout the park. These were constructed from 1913-1940 as a means off getting around the park without an automobile. Enough of the history lesson. cool

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

Nice color. This would have been really good for the waterfall under a bridge challenge in the weekly challenge gallery.

I am amazed to see this bridge constructed of so many small pebbles, that doesn't look as the most stabile way to me, but then again, since the bridge is still standing, my gut feeling is wrong apparently. I like this bridge, it blends very well with the natural surroundings, and my only suggestion would be to burn the white water on the left, it's a bit of an eye magnet to me. Very nice photo!

Ed, What a great looking bridge this is. This setting with the rock and falls below is really nice. A beautiful setting that I would probably visit often if close by. I love the way these old bridges were built with so much character and a real joy to look at. I agree with Roel's suggestion on burning down the bright water on the left edge between the rock. Very nice!

Thanks for your thoughts guys. Here is a repost with the bit of water burned down a bit on the left side. I missed that until you guys pointed it out.

I like the composition and use of long exposure. I do think that there's a yellow/green cast which could be corrected.

This is when tunnel vision works. :)  Lovely image of the bridge and water flow.
