The Arrival

Two hikers (find them ;) ) arriving to Iceland's Thorsmork valley after a strenuous hike across a mountain pass near the notorious Eyjafjallajokull volcano (notorious because its eruption grounded air traffic across most of Europe a few years ago). This is not one of the much-photographed iconic views of Iceland, but I still enjoy it a lot.

D610 + 18-35 AF-S, two exposures blended for dynamic range control.

Please let me know what you think!

Found them! Looks like a pretty sweet trail to me, wow. Very nice monochromatic, although the added color doesn't really do it for me. I think I would prefer a "real" b+w. Nice shot!

Yes, lots to enjoy,Basil. Found the hikers. I think this a a wonderful image...fine composition, and the sky seems as moody and varied as the landscape.  Well done.

Basil, I found the hikers but I had to look for awhile. That gave me a chance to look this over and I quite enjoyed it. There is lots to explore here and it looks great. Excellent composition showing off this amazing area.

I found them also. I think the foreboding clouds compliment the rugged landscape perfectly, Basil. Just curious; has this been toned?

Thank you all for commenting! Ed - yes, I've added a bit of blue to the shadows and a bit of warmth to the highlights using the split toning tool in Lightroom.

A lot to look at in this rugged seen. Well done black-and-white. I like your framing and composition. It kept me looking for a long time.

Rugged, rugged, rugged,  I think your exposure is right on and I like the tonal treatment.
