Sharp-tailed Grouse

This was taken on February 23, 2016.  In Saskatchewan I have never known how early the grouse are on their lek.  It looked like they had been on the lek for a while because there were a lot of tracks.   Unfortunately I had not been able to check it earlier.  However, I was pleased to get this action with snow on the ground.

Nikon D810, 300 2.8 plus 1.4 tc, f 5.6, 1/2000, ISO 320, taken about half an hour after sunrise.

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated.

A wonderful pose, May, great eye contact, and the snow is a nice addition.  You might run a bit more noise reduction on the oof bg, but this is a spectacular image.  Well done.

Fantastic dynamic pose, May. Really like the bit of environment and light in the image. The snow on the ground looks exposed perfectly as well.

Congratulations, May.  There was no doubt in my mind which image would get the EP for this week.  Superb work.
