nIce Lines #2

After nearly two weeks of warm temperatures, we had a good overnight freeze Friday that created some fun ice structures on my ponds.  The biggest challenge in finding this view, was to get some strong colors reflecting off the ice.  In this case, it's the sun hitting the bricks of the neighbor's house with some underwater lily pads showing through subtly.  (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 185mm, 1/30s, f/11, iso 200, tripod)  An 11 image stack for top to bottom sharpness.

Crazy abstract, Mark! Quite often these abstracts benefit from a polarizer to remove some/most of the reflections, but this is the proverbial exception! The strong reflections are what makes this such a strong photo.

WOW, what a wild looking abstract. As abstract as it is I pick up a feeling towards seeing a Native American head-dressing with various feather plumage and banding. The variety of colors from the lilies, rocks, water, etc....really help outline and define the idea of the headgear for me.......Very nice....laugh

This image is purely awesome with the colors, patterns,
textures, and lines. They all meld together to form a stunning abstract image.

Such fascinating work

An amazing image, great colors and one could get lost in the shapes. Looks like ice geology with fault lines, escarpments and fissures.

Mark, This is so cool looking! The colors, reflections, patterns and textures all add up to a fantastic abstract. I don't have a pond but maybe if I get a piece of aluminum foil and wrinkle it up a little I can come up with something similar...cool Very nice work!!

These are fun, and you've certainly done  a good job with this one.  Colors and textures fill the frame nicely - something to look at everywhere.

Beautiful lines and colors.  Always nice to find these gems out your backdoor. What's not to like, fine in all ways for me.

This is a wonderful abstract, and I'm envious of your lily pond for this kind of photo fun. The colors here work very well, as do all the interesting lines and shapes. Keep 'em coming!

The weather forecast calls for 63 tomorrow, then a week of rain.  We would have to try this in our freezers.  This is very cool.  You have the deck stacked in your favor for nIce images.

Mark,
This is an outstanding ice abstract. The mix of warm and cool tones is very effective. I don't think I've seen anything quite like this. Well seen.

Hi Mark, this shot immediately caught my eye.  A wonderful mix of colour and structure - simply excellent!  Such a shot makes me very jealous when i think just how little 'winter' we have had here in Germany this year ... :-(
Cheers, Mark
