One of my favorite birds, but difficult to capture.  They are quite wary and usually take off if I approach too closely.  This one landed on a river piling right in front of me and didn't seem to mind when I kept inching my way closer.

Canon 7D II
100-400 mm at 360 mm
1/320 at f7.1
ISO 640

Thanks for looking.  Comments and thoughts on improvement always appreciated.

I'd love to get this close to one and get an image with good sharpness and exposure as you have here.

The perch is a bit annoying because it is so bright. I'd try bringing that brightness down in post processing.

Clean & simple Allen, but I would clean up the cloning/manipulation on the RHS (as viewed) of the cone.

"Difficult to capture" doesn't cover it.  Congratulations!  I think you could tone down the post a little.

Thanks for the comments.  I made some changes as suggested to correct some cloning errors and de-emphasize the cone.  I also added a bit of canvas on the left as it seemed a bit tight.

Nice, Allen.  The repost looks really good with the post muted a bit.  Good detail in the Kingfisher.

Nice job on the repost.  Good detail in this female and some interesting lighting on the creast.
