Sunset Dining

Here's a left over from last July.  A male American Rubyspot damselfly (Hataerina americana) munches on a fly as it faces into the setting sun on a rocky island in the Potomac River.  I went for the damsels and the sunset, but only the damsels cooperated.  (5D3, 180mm macro + 1.4 TE, f/10, 1/160s, iso 800, tripod)

Quite a catch, Mark. Well composed for the action and the victim, and the nice light really brings out the colors and detail.  devil

Mark, I like the golden metallic color and the prey is a wonderful addition. Nice detail and pose.

Hey Mark,
The large version is very impressive with wonderful detail from one end to the other. The setting sun light makes for an outstanding color pallet and the back ground works well. If it were mine, I would be tempted to clone out the far back oof leaf from the start of the solid yellow hump to eliminate the yellow area and everything beyond on the right. It seems awkward as is for some reason, just a thought.
Well done and I'm sure your missing July weather about now . . .  laugh

The damselfly has electric colors and looks great on the leaf.
