House Finch

The same bird I posted a few days ago under the "Tiny Tim" title.  Several people mentioned that a tighter crop might have been warranted on that image.  Given the pose, I'm afraid I didn't agree with them, but with this pose I did crop it a bit tighter, because the bird is posed vertically and doesn't seem to have a need to have a lot of room to move into.  I chose the square format because I wanted to keep that little patch of lichen on the branch.

7D2, Sigma 150-600mm C @ 562mm, hand held, f/8, 1/200, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped to a square format, final size just under 11 Mpixels.  Taken December 16th at 9:38 AM.

I appreciate your comments on the last couple of posts and look forward to your input on this one.

Thanks,

Very nice detail and exposure. Pleasing colors and textures throughout. Would look good with more space on the right if you've got it.

Nicely lit and very good sharpness. The perch is pretty cool, too, and I agree with your comp to preserve the little lichen clump.

Amazingly crisp for 1/200 at more than 500mm.

Hi Dennis, great photo of this guy. Nice light and the colors are very attractive. Good sharpness and detail in the finch. I agree with Richard regarding a little more space to the right. devil
