Holiday Greetings from Ecuador everyone.  I photographed this Masked Water Tryant on Christmas Eve.  I have some blinds and little water pools set up near the family property, this species loves the little pools.  After taking a bath he jumped up on a perch next to the pools and dried off by preening and shaking.  I dropped the shutter speed and iso here to show the motion in the tail and wings while keeping the head sharp.

Nice choice of shutter speed, Nate.  I don't recall seeing this species posted.  It's a neat looking bird and looks like a challenge to expose properly.

I wondered how you had gotten this close to the bird; I have found them to be extremely spooky. Nicely done.

Well done Nate! It looks like you accomplished what you wanted regarding the motion depicted. The grass on the left of the frame is a little distracting...maybe a 4 x 5 crop to remove it. Still very nice as posted. Neat bird!
