This Sandhill flew directly toward me.  This is FULL frame from left to right.  I was fortunate to not wait any longer to squeeze the shutter on this one.  Cropped top/bottom to this pano presentation.  The backgrounds at the Bosque can be just amazing.

Please check out the larger version.

Techs:

Canon 7D Mark II
500mm f/4
ISO 400
1/1600 @ f/5.6

Very cool, Keith.  Wonderful light and you nailed the focus and dof.  It always amazes me how much cranes look like boxcars with wings from the front.

Love the golden light here Keith. The flight angle is nice and perhaps emphasised by the tight/pano crop. Agree with you about the light, with the early morning mist it's a breathtaking location.

Keith,

very nice light and the framing you have choosen works very well. One hs to have a look to the bigger version to see that there is good eye contact to the viewer, something I find important.

Excellent focus, Keith.  Having the bird looking directly at you is a real bonus, and I like the upward sweeping primaries.

Front to back is a lot of length on a sandhill crane, looks like some really nice DOF for f/5.6 devil
