Footprints hare

Gallery: LandscapePosted December 16, 2015106 views14 comments
Photographing these footprints hare I have tried to show the environment where the animal live, emphasizing the texture of the snow. Sony A7RII, FE 16-35 F4 ZA OSS. f/16, 1/160 sec., ISO 100. LR + PS only to remove some reflections due to backlight.
Any comments are welcome.

I posted the image in "landscape", perhaps it could stay in another gallery?

Roberto,

Excellent job with the sunstar, depth, snow, color, comp - all great!  A great job showcasing the prints, yet making them part of a bigger landscape.  Nice, clean sunstar!

The only bummer is really, are the multiple contrails. The two long trails, not much to be done, but I would definitely clone out the small streak next to the sun, somewhat of a distraction.

Works fine for me  here! (but then I don't work here....)

I like the low perspective and wide-angle, well balanced comp. The animal tracks are nicely positioned as a leading line; the sunstar is great. My only minor suggestion, if you are so inclined, would be to clone out the one dark hole or depression in the snow to the left of mid center. I find that it detracts and pulls the eye from the line of tracks leading into the distance. Obviously, a minor tweek.

This turned out very nicely, Roberto. I like the low POV and the tracks are a great lead into the scene. Of course the sunstar is great as is all the detail in the snow. My only suggestion would involve cloning out those jet contrails along with that depression in the snow off to the left of the tracks. I think that would elevate this fine image another notch.

You nailed it with the repost, Roberto. Those small changes really cleaned up this wonderful scene.

The repost really puts this over the top.  Super sun star and a remarkably clean and refreshing image. Very nice.

The tracks and the sparkling snow are clear points of interest that add significantly to this eye-catching, pleasing composition, with or without the contrails (but even better in the "cleaned up" version).

Definitely the reposted image, Roberto! It looks great, and you did a nice job removing the contrails. I like the low angle of view and all the detail. I'm glad you decided to rework this one!

...What Albert Darmo said.  I delayed commenting because I looked at the first version on my iPad, but boy, seeing the repost made the delay worth it (and my comments more brief). This is fabulous.

Roberto,
I agree with both the comments prior to mine.  It is a sweet image, and removal of the contrails will make it even better.  I am partial to shots with footprints that disappear in the distance.  It makes me wonder who/what was there, where it went and why.  I love pictures that tell stories, and this one lets me make it up myself.  cool

I find the repost to be a minor but significant improvement if that makes any sense. Nice work, Roberto, that's one of the better sunstars I've seen.
