Almost Autumn...

Full Title: Almost Autumn, Almost Sunset
Looks like we all have a ton of fall/winter and some winter/spring shots, so I'll refrain from posting one of my images of the skunk cabbage breaking through the snow. Instead, I dug back in my archives to 2004 for this mid-September image. I was using my film SLR for serious photography at the time, but neglected to bring it with me to a meeting, since I expected to be driving home in the dark. When the meeting adjourned early, I was happy to drive through some Adirondack scenery even though the leaves had not started changing much in the valleys. I spotted this scene from fhe road, and used my first digital camera -- a small, 4MP Olympus P&S to get this shot, using a tiny plastic tabletop tripod on the shore, inches from the water. The 4MP image makes a surprisingly nice 11x14 inch print.

6 commentsThis is proof positive that a beautiful, photogenic scene looks good no matter what the camera's capabilities are as long as you keep it still during the shutter duration. My first impression was that this was taken on the water in your Kayak but was impressed with the point of view you managed after reading your comments on the image. The composition gives an excellent perspective of being on the water at this time of day in dead calm conditions and I know all to well the enjoyment of having such a perspective.
Well done . . .
