American Avocet Pair

This was shot last weekend in Bayou Sauvage.  It's only the second time I've seen these in my area.  It was a cool overcast morning, and the female (left) had her bill buried in her feathers.  This is the only frame where the male joined the mate and the female raised her bill.  I liked the soft light and calm open water.

Lovely poses and composition, Bill.  An excellent job on the exposure and detail.  It looks as if there's a hintof light in both of the eyes that you might try to bring up just enough to make it visible.

What I call in my own work a "quiet" image. I like the understated, a;most monochrome, colors and overall look.
