Petrified Forest NP
On the last leg of our trip home we passed through the Petrified Forest. The abstract possibilities were endless with the petrified trees, the badlands and even some real flora. I especially liked the patterns and textures of this old giant. All comments welcome. >=))>

Great textures and wonderful colors, Bill!  I love the glow and the feeling of strength.  Sounds like an awesome, awesome trip!

Absolutely stunning abstract, I will never get bored by these kind of photos! I do think I would crop out the OOF part at the bottom, it's slightly distracting and removes some of that abstract feeling for me. Small nit though, I really enjoy this one.

Really cool look at this tree.  Facinating to look at and ponder it's transition from living organism to stone.  Nice.

HI Bill,

I find myself really enjoy abstracts now a days, and this is an excellent abstract image. The colors, lines, and shapes really come together beautifully in this tree or I guess rock now. Beautiful framing and work!

Form the image it is hard to tell whether it is stone or wood. Beatiful colours and textures. I never get tired of looking at such photos.

This is a very nicely crafted composition.  I especially like the interest added by the darker detail on the left.  I didn't notice the OOF area in the lower left corner until I read Roel's comment.  It's a minor issue, but it would probably be more noticeable in an enlarged print.  However, I don't think that cropping it out is an option as Roel suggests.  I think that would have too much of a negative impact to the balance of the image.  Perhaps some well-executed cloning would be an alternative.
