Back lit Egret.
A bird I have been waiting to photograph in this country for many, many years. Finally got it at one of my rare outings this year ,to a local scrape. More to follow.

Sigma 50-500 - before I sent it off to have the inside fungus growth removed. At least it lowered the contrast a bit !!

Crop from horizontal.
Image guru for shadows.
Neat Image.
People didn't reckon much to the pigeon pic- don't know why?

Hi John, this is a nice low pov shot of this egret prowling for something to eat I would guess. The raised foot adds interest and the matching water and backround color surround the subject...nice! There is a couple of hot spots on top of the Egret but with that backlight it's hard to avoid. Well done!

Nice, John.  The backlight actually worked in your favor here putting the visible part of the bird in shadow so you got nice detail in the plumage.  I really like the pose.  Congratulations on finally getting one of these.
