Where a Dam Once Stood

My wife and I spent a few days on the Olympic Peninsula last week and had to pay a visit to the Elwah river where two dams have been removed in the last couple of years.   The salmon were coming back upstream within weeks of the completion of the removal.  This image is looking down at the river where the upstream dam (/glines Canyon Dam) used to be.  The concrete in the foreground was one of the abutments and now makes a fine overlook of what was Mills lake when the dam was there.  It's only had one winter to flush out gravel so I expect to see big changes over the next few years.

Note that I took some liberties with this image by cloning out a sensor boom that was in the original and doing some selective brightness adjustments to try to draw the eye to the water.  I'll post the less edited version as a comment.

5Diii, 28-70mm f2.8 @28mm, f/16, 1/60, iso 500, -1/3 stop compensation, aperture priority and pattern metering, processed in LR5 & CS6.  Full frame.  Taken October 15th at 10:28 am.

Any comments and criticisms are more than welcome.

Thanks,

Dennis, I actually think the second photo tells the story better with the sensor boom visible.  Adds some scale to the image.  TFS.
