Very cool, Harley. Probably listed as Regular and Ethel too. Hard to tell at even the larger version, but it shows what I think as 34 cents a gallon maybe. Looks and sounds about right for the vintage. Showing my age, I recall paying 19.9 as an illegal 14 year old driver way back when. Working on farms during those days the local police just turned a blind eye to us guys driving back and forth to the farms.
Seems like the fuel would run in spurts of 23.9 - 25.9 - 27.9 - 29.9 many times depending upon the grade of fuel back then. Of course there was always the price wars at the pumps, along with getting crystal glass cups and S&H green stamps too.
Thanks for sharing the nostalgic trip back.......fun stuff.
Where's the vapor recovery nozzles?.......

Hey Harley,
Wonderful image, well seen and presented. These pumps also bring back memories for me as my Grandmother owned and operated a small country store in rural South Georgia back in the 1950's and 60's which also had a two pump gas island out front with pumps the same as these two that were indeed Regular (red) and Ethyl (white). These two are missing the glass dome lights on top.

Old gasoline pumps always make for interesting images, and these two are no exception. The red and white leap out of the frame, and the texture of the wall is a nice addition. Nicely done, sir!

Paul: I've never heard of gasoline being called "Ethel" , but I have heard of Ethyl.

Turned out pretty nice, Mr H. I reckon it was the sugar in that brownie from the store that provided the inspiration.

A fine look at this old "couple", I keep looking for the little ones running around... These are very well matched and your tight focus does a good job of emphasizing that match. Might be worth cropping off the shadow area up top, but that's a minor nit on a neat bit of nostalgia.

great shot - something about the colors and how these pumps are "mated" is very intruiging

You should have titled it "Fred and Sally" or some such thing.
They're cute together.

This is so nostalgic and neat, Harley. Love the worn paint on the pumps mirroring the wear and tear of the wall behind. Fantastic find making for a fantastic image.

Harley,
Great catch. I love old gas pumps and these two look like Mr. and Mrs. against the wall.

This is truly gorgeous - what a find, and beautifully captured. The pumps appear to be very much alive!!
