Yellowstone Coyote

I saw this beautiful animal on a trip to Yellowstone NP a few weeks ago.  Taken around 5:00 pm.  As we were driving, I saw a coyote standing in the middle of the river on a rock. It was an amazing sight, but was unable to get a shot of it. A little later I saw this one which remained in view long enought to photograph.

Nikon D810, Nikon 500mm f/4, 1/1250, ISO 360, f/3, handheld.

Nice position you caught this guy in.  For me, it looks a bit too light, would like to see it just a bit darker overall.  Good sharpness in its face.  Too bad you missed the coyote in the river.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks John, for your comment. I think you are right about it being too light. Here it is with 1/3 stop reduction in exposure. More than that seemed too dark to me. cool

Sharon: you captured the coyote nicely in mid-stride and with good detail. There's a goodly amount of its environment shown as well.  I think your image has benefitted from a toning down of the bright yellow background behind the coyote. Richard

Nice image of this coyote. I to think the second image is the best. The dof really causes it to pop from the background. Nice action shot and good environment.

Nice.  The second edition is best choice, in my opinion!
