Another take on the Pipevine Swallowtail from this past summer, this one without any flash under overcast skies..
One of my favorite B-flies here because it has the most iridescent blue on its hindwings you'll see in a swallowtail. Especially brilliant when the sun hits it (not so much here).

8 commentsBeautiful, Howard! The details in the bf and in the flower are excellent and the colorful background adds well to the beauty. I also really like how the veins along the trailing edge show so nicely.
Another beautiful image of a butterfly. The colors and detail are really good and the dof makes the butterfly pop.
Just another outstanding BF image from you, Howard. The dark, iridescent blue BF contrasts beautifully with the nearly pristine pink zinnia. Nice bg as well.
A clean shot Howard ..and fine detail in the blacks ..The multi color painted bg works very well here.

Howard, the large image is unreal! I love the way the soft light defines the edges and details of the wings. The BF is perfect. The BG of lime, red and orange OOF stuff really sets the BF up in style.
