Late Summer 6

Hi all.

I have some more dahlia shots that I have been working on.  With this one, I have played with the curves some.  Please let me know if you have a preference.  Any and all thoughts appreciated.

This is the original (at least without curves changes).

I prefer the previous image Nathan, the darker area at the top I find slightly distracting. Also the previous image had a lovely pastal colour range throughout which I liked very much. The lighting on this image looks slightly unbalanced. Graham

Good thoughts Graham.  Thanks for those.  I was going for a bit more dramatic light/gradients, but maybe it does not work with this bloom.  Thanks for your honest opinions, I appreciate them.

I like the original post a bit more than the repost, Nathan. Has a little more pop but it still well controlled. Theses are all good, however, and it's difficult to pick one that's clearly better than the others (as between LS 5 and the two versions of LS 6).

Gorgeous, Nathan !  Love the strong swing from light to dark and from warm to cool in the curves version - definitely to my taste that one, though the original is lovely too.  Superb composition - very dynamic. devil

I like the post copy, rather than the comment copy, mostly because of the warmer tones. Your last post is the one I prefer above all in the series. This one is good, but I wish you had pulled back a little on the gradient. These all remind me strongly of Georgia O'Keeffe paintings.cool

Such a great demonstration of how curves can enhance a photo. I love the curves version for all the subtle colors that it brings out and the greater emphasis on form and light. Very beautiful and painterly.

I think it would depend on my mood and the use to which the image was put, Nathan.  The one with the curves adjustment really has some nice pop to it and is an attention grabbler.  The softer image has it's own appeal, however.  A very nice angle on the blossom.

Nathan: Viewing this after Late Summer 7. The processing on both is excellent and I much prefer the curves versions over the original captured. I do prefer the comp and portrait orientation on Late Summer 7. Most excellent on both.>=))>
