Unfortunately cold and light (warmth) meant that our sightings of these birds were very limited.
This was about the best I could manage, taken in the Simien Mountains, Ethiopia.

5 commentsNice job on the exposure against that bg, Ken. Cool wing position and a nice view of hte eye. I agree that the light could have been more in your favor, but it gives you an excuse to try again.
Nice wing spread on this one Ken, It's unfortunate about the light but you did the best possibly could. I agree with Dennis - Try again, you'll get it.
The large image needs to be seen to really get the feel of this image. I think you did a good job, all things considered. I hope you get another chance under better conditions.
I like the wing position in this Ken and love the species (which I have never seen before). I am faced with overcast skies quite a bit myself and it always seems when it's shooting a birds with dark feathers (like Bald Eagles). I saw you were at +1/3 Ex comp. I always seem to have to adjust anywhere from +1 to even + 1 2/3. I think it may have helped a bit more as the bird seems underexposed a bit still.
Thanks everybody
