Low Tide Reflections at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach, Alameda, California. Many photographers like to travel to far-flung locations to shoot their photos, myself included, but let's not ignore opportunities close to home either. In this instance, I shot this at the beach across the street from my place at sunset. The sunset wasn't that interesting so I played around looking to the ground for compositions.

Is this really Richard Wong?......Hey Richard, long time since you've posted. Glad to see this neat image as a returning first post.
I really like this look and idea overall, although the larger version could be increased. Not sure you were aware of the changes but the larger version was increased from 1200 to 1600 long side. Horizontals like this seem to work well at the increased size.
Anyway, really nice to see your recent post here.......
btw: looks like you relocated from So Cal to the Bay area too?
Thanks guys. Yes, Paul. It's really me!
I moved to the Bay Area two years ago with my now-wife. Much better fit for me here.
I wasn't aware of the size changes but thanks for the tip. I just copyright infringed myself but right-click downloading off of my site before uploading here.
Looks great Richard! Excelllent colors and abstract patterns.
Thanks Harley!
I like your style on this intimate image, Richard. I agree that there are lots of potential and interest at our local hangouts. Nice post work on coloring and tones.
I totally agree with you about finding wonderful landscapes and other subjects close to home. This is a wonderful example of the same Sun that shines on a National Park, also shining on your back yard (or across the street). It's also a lesson in seeing and thinking out of the box to shoot all the colors in the sky by aiming at the ground.
The combination of abstract patterns organized into horizontal bands of color is masterful.
Great result. Way to go.

Thanks guys.
"the same Sun that shines on a National Park, also shining on your back yard (or across the street)." That's a great way to look at it Wayne!
Kudos on "seeing" this fine abstract.
Thanks Kory.
The light giving rise to the gradient of colors across the frame is outstanding. From the thumbnail, I thought this would be a picture of rice paddies in different colors.
I have driven by these mud flats every day for for 20 years and marveled at them from the freeway. As you've shown they are particularly attractive in the early and late hours of the day. This is a very nice abstract made more so by the range of reflected colors. Beautifully seen and done.
Thanks Basil & Igor. I hadn't thought of them as resembling rice paddies but good to know. I just need to find some real rice paddies to photograph. :-)
Great abstract, Richard. The layres of color are real sweet!
It's great to see you back at NPN!

Killer shot. Love the kaleidoscopic array of colours.
Thanks guys - Preston, KKY. It's great to be back on NPN!
A real winner, Richard. The "texture" and colors work together perfectly here. I love the concept of shooting close to home. It's often a satisfying challenge.
