Roots Of The Sacrosanct

A lone tree a few miles east of Steptoe Butte, in the Palouse region of eastern Washington state.  This particular morning, the clouds were out and clearer than ever.  There were so many clouds and different combinations of light being created that morning that it was almost too difficult to figure what to shoot and not to shoot.  One minute the sun would be blocked by clouds, then it would become sunny again a minute later.  Overall, it was a great experience to shoot in this region, and probably one of my favorite places I've ever visited.  I felt that this shot somehow summarizes the experience of being in this area that morning.

This was a single exposure.  I used a Nikon D5500 w/ 18-300mm lens.  125mm focal length,  f/13 and 1/160s.

Matthew, I'm really liking the clean colors here and the shape of the two trees.  You've got great shapes in the hills, the trees and the clouds and a fine visual balance.  This is very well seen.  The colors seem a bit oversaturated for my tastes.

Hi Matthew,

Nicely rendered scene with vibrant color.  I would reduce the overall saturation down a tad  and eliminate the short horizontal linear cloud remnant on the right side...........................Jim

The contrasting colors and the lone tree in a field are beautiful.  This must have been a wonderful experience.  Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
