Pied Lapwing

This image of a Pied Lapwing was taken in Encontro das Aquas State Park, Mato Grosso, Brazil.  We were in a boat on one of the rivers when we came across this sandbar containing the lapwings.  For this shot I was lying on my tummy using a Nikon D810 camera, a 300 2.8 lens with a 1.4 teleconverter, f 5.6, ISO 500, 1/6400.  I love shorebirds so was thrilled to find some in the Pantanal.

May,
This is an excellent capture of this Lapwing. The POV and DOF really make this image enjoyable and you really managed the midday bright sunlight perfectly with good detail in both the whites and the blacks.

Sweet image May, the low POV is excellent. Great details in the Lapwing and the raised foot adds a lot IMO. Comp and background are top notch too. devil

Killer capture, May!  devil Exposure, focus, DOF and composition are all as good as can get.  The large version is extremely impressive!  I'm not familiar with this bird but based on the relative size of it's eyes I would guess it is quite small.

May,

This should be the "big eyed" lapwing.

Wonderful POVdevil

Great low angle and a superb job on the exposure, May.  That eye is just on the tantalizing edge of showing detail and I wonder if you could get away with brightening it a touch?  Lovely image.

Sweet image, May. Excellen POV and pose. Good choice of DOF - the lapwing looks very sharp with no details missing.
