This was taken in October 2012 somewhere along the myriad of (usually) dry washes in the eastern region of Zion.

Looks like a fascinating place to explore, Jim. The tree at the back adds some fine contrast with it's fall colors to the reds of the rocks.

Not having seen many washes, this one looks pretty cool, especially surrounded by those beautiful, sculpted, rock formations. The colors in the wash compliment the rocks nicely, and that small Aspen (?) really makes a statement in the background. Still deciding on the scale here...some miniature hikers down there would really blow my mind.... Nicely done and fun to view Jim.

Thanks for the comments. Jim, I'm pretty sure that the tree in the background is a bigtooth maple. The scale here is not too grand. I'd estimate that the tree is only about 20-25 feet tall, and the top of the frame on the left in the foreground is not much above my head ... maybe 10-12 feet above the dry wash bed.

This is a very inviting entryway. Nice color contrasts, shapes, textures.
