Very nice. How close were you when you took this? Suggestion: crop left side to eliminate the bright area at left of dark branch.

Hello Paula, thanks for sharing this unique close-up.  The expression and view of face are excellent.  Given the composition of extended left paw, I think the image would be a little stronger if you had included the very tip of paw and possible claws.

As a relative newcomer to NPN you may not have noticed the "Posting Guidelines" at top right of page when you are preparing to post an image, located right under the box where one selects gallery.   Images for wildlife gallery are defined to limit that gallery to images of wild, unbaited animals in natural habitat.  Captive or zoo or rehabilitation animals are fine on NPN...in the Pop gallery.  The speceific wording that would apply to Antelope Park, from the guidelines is: "Photos taken of captive wildlife at zoos and wildlife rehabilitation centers may be posted in the POP Gallery."   Therefore, as moderator, it is my role to move this to the POP gallery.  Thanks for your understanding.

Hi, Paula, I agree with Jim's crop suggestion and Lon's note re posting guidelines. In the meantime, you are off to an excellent start!

I think it is a nicely exposed portrait of a lion.  I like the expression on its face as well as the color and details of it.  The bright spot on the left can stay or go, to me it adds a bit of depth to the image.  Thanks for sharing.

Nice capture of a gorgeous creature, Paula. The light on the lion is wondreful and the deatil is exellent. I agree with the cropping comment made by Jim. You might also consider cloning out the bit of tree branch in the lower right corner. I really like the light in lion's eyes.
