This was taken with slr 500 sigma lens, early morning in the New Forest. One beam of light came through the  trees, also took more pics when light improved.

I like the composition of this photo, but for me the light areas on the fallow deer need to have a bit more detail to make this really work.  I get the feeling the light was fairly harsh.  I do think with a bit more work in processing this could be a real winner.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for coments. This photo. Was taken out of a car window as very little time to compose, hand held with a 500 lens early morning very little light, managed to take a few seconds later, as the light improved will post another one tomorrow.

Hi Paula,

Welcome to the NPN Wildlife Gallery. You've certainly started off with a dramatic image post!

The natural and strong contrast here certainly makes this a dramatic shot. If the highlights on the buck can be retrieved in post-processing (even just somewhat) it might strengthen the shot some more. If this were mine I'd probably crop a little more off the left side of the image to move the subject slightly more out of the centre of the frame (but this is obviously an issue of personal preference...).

Cheers...

Brad
