Taken at the summit of the Cairngorms in Scotland. No way could I climb this moutain so I took the easy route up by the mountain railway.Canon 7D, Canon 100-400mm, 1/800th sec, f7.1 and iso320

Taking the mountain railway was a bright idea, Graham, and in no way detracts from the excellence of the shot. This is an attractive capture and I find the naturally occurring blue cast to be a very pleasing addition to the overall effect.

Superb, Graham. You did an outstanding job on the whites and the low angle really makes the bird pop from the bg. Is this a recent shot? Curiious if they retain their white plumage year round up there.

Just a day late for Light on White WC. A fine example of that topic. The whites are white, the focus is right on and the background is great. Very nice.

This would have been perfect for the last weekly challenge!. I really like the detail and the pose. It really pops on the white BG.

Graham: excellent job of handling the whites and those appealing blues. The low perspective is a major plus as well as the overall composition. Richard

Good handling of the whites, especially the snow glare.

I think I would have taken the same up up the mountain Graham. I like this white on white comp with the blue shadows streaking across the BG. Nice work (BTW...you have what appears to be a dust spot on the upper right corner...I only noticed it because it is in the white area and stood out when I scrolled.)

Great image of a species I rarely see posted on this forum. Love the winter setting. Tough image to expose well, but you made it work.
