I was going through some of my early spring photo’s and come across this Snowy Egret shot, taken at Hammonasset Beach State Park, CT. The photo is taken from a tripod and I cropped the right hand side of the frame. I added some clarity and brought down the highlight in Lightroom.

6 commentsNeat pose & I like this comp with the bird looking back through the frame Peter.
Great colors & the whites look excellent.. Also like the tuft of feathers right side, was it windy?
Well done
Nice head turn and color. Looks like a late afternoon shot. I lived in New Haven 1954-56 and spent many a summer day at Hammonasset Beach with my family.
A lovery shot, Peter. The contrast of the white bird against the blue sky really pops. Nice detail in the whites.
Hi Howard
Yes it was a vary windy day. Thanks for all the comments.

Great pose and I like the tree top perch, Peter. The whites are nicely exposed. I think I notice a bit of motion blur in the tip of the beak, which seems odd at 1/2000, but there's a lot of lever arm there if the head's moving.
Real nice pose and the composition in the frame is very well balanced. The Egret seems a little soft all over for 1/2000. Maybe the focus point was off a little. Nice catch.
