While photogrphing the fledgling Barn Swallow I was able to get a few shots of an adult feeding it, though even with the Teleconverter removed I usually managed to clip some part of the adult's anatomy. This was one of my favorites.
7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f/9.0, 1/1250, iso 1250, Aperture priority, pattern metering with -1/3 stop compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 10.3MP. Taken July 2nd at 6:45 am.

6 commentsNice behavioral shot, Dennis, and the kid is very cute. The adult's head angle isn't ideal but it' balanced by the remaining downy feather on the kid's wing.
I like the birds on a branch. This is a nice clean composition. I usually doning see barn swallows feeding their young in a nice clean area like this.
What a special moment to capture. I've loved watching all the fledglings out with their parents the past few months. My only change would be to possibly crop out the brown twig on the branch, which my eye keeps getting drawn to. Lovely blues and greens in the bg :-)
This is a nice depiction of the feeding process Dennis. One small Nit, the branch seems a little bright, even compared to the last post of these guy's. (which I liked also just hadn't commented on it.) Maybe you could bring that exposure down a bit. Well seen, well captured!
Hi Dennis
Nice interaction and detail. The branch seem a bit hot, maybe you could bring down the hightlights some?
Peter
Very nice behavior you captured well here Dennis, I would try to bring down the highlights on the branch and the belly of the young bird here.
