The largest of the chicks would sit by him/herself frequently. Often in much denser cover than the three smaller youngsters. This is from one of the few opportunities where he/she was on a relatively open roosting area in a Saskatoon/Serviceberry tree. The blossoms have recently been shed and the developing fruit is starting to be visible. The overcast sky and recent rains rendered the foliage colors fully saturated and vibrant. His/her ear feathers were much more developed at this point and show nicely.

3 commentsAnother beauty, Neil. Neat to find it in the open and surprising to find a Serviceberry with an open space to perch.
It's a bit busy, Neil, but still excellent.
I like the saturated colors as well here Neil, the comp works well, a vertical would have been nice here too.
