This is from last September's monsoons. Taken from our patio (undercover I might add). These cliffs are roughly a mile from our house and are about 1000 ft high. The noise is deafening when we get pour-offs like this, which only happens once or twice a year with this volume of water. There was some significant flooding due to a micro burst that put down over 4" of rain in a little over 2 hours. It is amazing to experience the sight but the sounds are equally astounding.

5 commentsGary, wow, what a sight and from a mile away. Those muddy waterfalls show the rapid runoff well and it sounds that they speak very loudly on the same topic. Looks like the kind of wild weather that I'd enjoy (from a covered patio). Four inches in two hours in a dry climate with little vegetation to slow the flow down is an amazing amount of water, helps me understand flash flooding in the canyons.
Spectacular waterfalls, Gary!! I'm sure that the right conditions are rare, but well worth the wait! Very well captured!
You certainly have a nice view from your patio, I'm envious! At first I thought that it looked a bit flat, but upon reading that this is a mile away I think this look is fitting. I like the color gradient in the rocks from top to bottom.
So you had a front row seat, lucky you.
The sights & sounds would be something one would have to experience firsthand, to fully appreciate..
I like the comp and added color at the bottom - Excellent image
That would have been spectacular to witness! Single malt in hand, of course.
