Casual Observation

It was late afternoon and this eagle was just sitting by the river, calmly keeping an eye on everything within range (including me).  It's back was to me but I liked the willows against the mountain and the nice light so I took the shot.

Sony ILCE-6000, SEL-55210, 210mm (315mm equiv.), f6.3, 1/2000, hand held.

The large version has much more presence.

Gary, you've got excellent detail in the eagle and the tree it's sitting on, definitely best seen in the larger version.  The highlighting on the willow (or is that alder?) blooms does add a lot to the image.  The larger version here is so much better.  I'll bet a large print would be great.

Love the rather minimalist look -- without a busy background the subject and his perch stand out beautiflly.

The eagle stands out wonderfully against the sombre backdrop, Gary, in a perfect composition.  Nice mood to this !!

Outstanding Image Gary,
The position of the subject is perfect in the frame, the rear view with the slight head turn works very well and as mentioned, the BG and perch are wonderful. I would consider cloning out the white spots in the BG and selectively lighting the brown feathers on the Eagle's back and lower areas.
Well Done and a Sweet Image . . .  devil
