Hi everyone! Here's a photo from when I went to Florida last year. To be honest I completely forgot I even had this photo. My dad was going through our files the other night when he found this one of mine.

I had been photographing herons, who had their babies at the time, when this pelican flew over the nest. I'm surprised he came so close to the heron!

Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one! I'm thinking of entering it into a competition, so I'm looking for suggestions on how I can make it better. In terms of the crop, we do have more room available on the top and left parts of the frame.

Thanks for lookin'! crying

Hi Jenaya. This is a nice flight shot of the pelican and it's interesting in that the heron nest shows the abundance of life in the area. However, there is no punch for me. The complete lack of interaction or even reaction between the birds makes it feel like the nest and heron are just accidental additions that clutter the bg.

Sorry to be so negative on this one.

This is a nice shot ot the pelican in flight.  Interesting how it seems to frame the heron.  I agree it would have been nice if the heron had in some way acknowledge the intruder, but you can't have everything.  All in all, a nice bird in flight shot.

I do like the framing of the pelican passing the heron.  I have no problem with the pelican being centered, but judges might, so maybe shifting to the left just a bit?  Also, it seems to me the pelican is just a tad soft, might just be me.  Thanks for sharing, Good luck wiith the competition.
