This Mockingbird was flying up and back down into a bush. Not sure if there was some type of predator below it was trying to scare off. (It was doing it before I got close, so I don't think I caused it.) I did get several shots trying to catch it in flight; I will share a few more over the next few days.

Good job getting this guy in flight -- shot at fairly low ISO -- thinking more ISO could allow for higher fstop and greater DOF to get the far wing in focus -- but then again I'm not sure just what fstop it would take to get full focus. I'm trying to do most of shooting at f8-f10 to help with DOF on the birds -- like the upwing and open beak

Really nice Greg. Sharp where it needs to be. I try to shoot flying birds at f7.1. With your camera (I have a 5D MK II also) you can go higher on ISO. It is really good at higher ISO's. This would have given you sufficient shutter speed and enough DOF. Great shot nonetheless. You have come a long way in a short time. Keep em coming.

Well done, Greg! I would be tempted to back off the blue a little, but that may be regional; we don't get skies that blue around here in the humid South. :toast:

Great wing position, Greg, and the techs look good. I like your decision to leave the perch in.
