While "touring" some of Florida's rivers with fellow NPNer Mike Ramy in his boat mostly working on bird photography, I did grab a few scenic shots. When I saw this view of a small, backlit bald cypress tree along the edge of the St. Johns River on my monitor, the jungle paintings of Henri Rousseau came to mind. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 200mm, f/11, 1/100s, iso 800, HH)

Yes, Grant, that's a Little Blue Heron on top of the Cypress, scratching it's nose.

An excellent example of the beauty of the "Real Florida". This explains (in an image) why I love living in Florida. A beautiful scene well composed. Nice work Mark.

This is a remarkable scene! Is that a bird on top of the tree? It seems a tad too bright on my monitor, so maybe darkening it a bit could help.

Beautifully composed, Mark. Really enjoyed the detail in the large. I love the grey and green color combo. Very nice.

Beautiful composition - the light on the small bald cypress really makes it come alive!

This is a really nice composition. Complicated, yet holds together very well. I particularly like the left side of the image, the fan palms. Nice job.

A very diverse scene, Mark. Love the "dull" mosses hanging from the trees combined with the fresh greens all around it. Nice stuff!

Beautiful shore Mark. That's packed full of different textures, but it all comes together well.
